Quinn-Direct Car Insurance Staff Share Their Christmas Cash Saving Ideas

Save some more money for Christmas with these cash-saving ideas from Quinn-Direct.

LONDON, ENGLAND, November 17, 2010 /Personal Finance PR News/ -- With Christmas fast approaching and the associated extra strain on all of our finances, staff from car insurance specialist Quinn-direct have kindly shared some of their money saving tips!

After all, with the Festive season seeing an average person having to buy new party clothes; Christmas presents; visiting gifts (it's almost obligatory to take a pot plant, bottle of wine and chocolates when you visit friends and family over the Christmas period); and cover the travelling costs of going to visit a favourite aunt, it all soon adds up!

With some top cash saving tips from the staff at Quinn-direct hopefully it will help you have a little more cash in your pocket at Christmas time!

- If you have a beauty and hairdressing college in your area, book in for a treatment or haircut there. One member of staff used to pay EUR30 for a cut and blow dry and now pays just EUR10 at her local college - and still looks just as good! All the trainees are supervised, so you shouldn't come away with a bad haircut! Money saved: EUR20 every 6 weeks or so.

- Stop getting your morning caffeine fix from your local coffee shop and take a flask to work instead. Money saved: around EUR2 per day.

- Are you an avid book reader? Rather than buy a book, why not visit your local library and see if they have it? You can normally reserve books from them for around 25 cents. Money saved: around EUR7 per book.

- Ditch your daily newspaper and read it online. Money saved: around 65 cents per day, depending on your choice of newspaper.

- Instead of buying a present, give a gift of your time. Maybe you could give a gift of mowing someone's lawn for them for a month; or take a housebound relative out for the day. If you have any particular talents, then use them, e.g. budding artists could paint a picture, or linguists could offer free language lessons. Money saved: you will save the cost of a present, but give a valuable gift.

- Review your finances. Look at your mortgage, utilities and mobile phone bills etc. Are you paying too much for your motor insurance, for example? Is your current deal giving you what you believe is cheap car insurance? Many people automatically renew their annual insurances without actually taking the time to shop around to see if there is a more attractive deal available. Looking for alternative car insurance quotes may potentially see you get cheaper car insurance. Money saved on your motor insurance: this could potentially be anything from a few pounds right up to three figures, depending on your existing motor insurance arrangements!
